Sign Of The Times?

From Ratheesh

Today, when the Kanyakumari express reached Palakkad, the breakfast vendors entered the compartment:idli, idli.. vadey, vadey..“. Along with that there was one more person, who made an odd announcement:”em pee three, em pee three.., he said. I was a bit surprised and looked at him. Yes! he was selling MP3 CDs of Malayalam film songs!

Harper says PM stalling in hopes two unable to vote…. This is just stupid. If they are too weak to vote why exactly did Stephen Harper bring them in? To vote for him, of course!! Absolutely dumb to bring it up Commons of all places. This is probably one of the reasons why I would NEVER, EVER vote for conservatives.

Someone asked me the other day as to why I have this attitude when we all know that Liberals are so corrupt. My answer is that we know quite a few Liberals are corrupt but to assume that none of Conservatives are not corrupt is pulling wool before your eyes. So this issue is a non-issue for me. I have seen corruption is various forms (hey I come from one of the most corrupt countries in the world - India). And I know that no matter how smartly dressed up a politician might be….he/she is CORRUPT in one form or other. As a matter of fact….aren’t we all corrupt?

A smart politician would be the one who hides the trail effectively. And a smarter one would be who, when caught, immediately begins an inquiry to find out the trail which is what the Liberals did. So I don’t see the current AdScam as much of an issue for not voting for the Liberals.

Another thing that is probably a minor issue with a lot of people but a major one for me is the attitude of the conservatives on Gay-marriage. I just find their stand on gay marriage an example of their astounding bigotry. In a country like Canada with such a large part of the population falling under various minority groups, the last thing a political party should do is attack a minority group. Today they take up sexual orientation as a political issue, tomorrow it might be religion. Hey don’t laugh. That’s exactly what’s happening in USA.

Finally!!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — agsharma @ 1:04 pm

Finally got my ipod. All I can say is that for all the hype that this product has received….it’s totally justified!!

It’s just an amazing, amazing product. I have already loaded 10 CDs onto the player and it’s barely scratched the surface on the disk space!!

The interface is truly amazing and the ease of downloading songs onto the player is ziiiiiiiiiip!!

Now the cons….it’s heavier than I thought it would be. I know I am just complaining after all I am getting 10GB of memory but it always announces it’s presence when I go for a walk by slapping against my thighs. I will have to spend another 20 - 30 dollars to buy a clip on for it.

I had calculated the disc space I would require (based on my current collection and the music I will be buying in the future (I buy approx…. 2 CDs every month)) and came up with a figure 10GB being more than enough for me for the next 2 years or so. But the ripped MP3s are really not that small. I may have been skipping over an option to compress them even further (or maybe use a different format) but based on the current usage I would require 12GB just for my current collection!! Or my original calculations were wrong (even though I verified with a colleague who already had an Ipod)

The Ipod has functions like Calender, Games, etc. I don’t understand why a MP3 player has to have these functions. Waste of space….Apple could have added something better than these functions.

I got the Ipod from eBay….a refurbished model (with a 1 year warranty from Apple) although in hindsight, I should have brought it off the shelf. The product works fine but not all the accessories were sold with the unit so I had to figure out what was missing and then go and buy it from Best Buy (a store I detest for it’s prices).

All in all a great product. You should try it.

Amazingly Cute

Filed under: Rhea — agsharma @ 9:42 am

I have been working on a project over the wekend and it was probably the first time that I have stayed away from you for over 24 hours. And the seperation anxiety I felt was nothing that I have ever felt before. The whole day at work I kept thinking of you. When I came home your mom had already told me about this cute thing that you have started and when I saw you do it I just wanted to kiss you for a long, long time.

There you were sitting with your new toy, a baby cot. You had the baby doll in it and you were putting baby blankets on her. You were looking so adorable doing it carefully and making sure that the blanket was not dnagling out of the cot. I shouted out loud “Rhea!!!” and you looked and me and put your finger to you r mouth and did a loud SHHHHH!!!! Your mom and I were in splits!!
